When you see colors what do you see,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]? Some people see the color itself and some people see more!
Since I was a little boy in Abadan,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], small industrial town in a southern state of Iran playing football (what you call soccer!) with my brothers and our friends and having a good time. I was fascinated by colors and their effect on me. I started drawing and painting from the time I was twelve. As I matured in my artwork as well as in my manhood, my relationship to color changed also. I got more passionate and more interested in using color in my life and experiencing what colors provided for me.
Think about it. Something we see everywhere is color! Everywhere! In our clothing, the rooms of our houses, our furniture, books, and even on our bodies. Everywhere they are bringing vitality to our lives through the little touches they add in our world.
Have you ever thought about what color your life is,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]?
Yes, your life itself… the life you’re living! Did you ever think what color your Love is? Or the color of your happiness? Or your passion, your anger,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], your peace of mind, your resentment, your joy?
Interesting, yes?
I think the color of life is different for different people and time to time you find someone who has the same color passion as you have, and then there we go…sparks! Or on the flip side, you meet someone with the same color anger as you do,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and you run for your life!
So, let's look and see what colors we get! Where should I start?
Love,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], yes love is a good place to start. The color of my love is blue! Don’t laugh! I know most people would think love should be red…like Valentine’s Day…so mine is different and I will tell you why. When I think about the people I love, I am so calm and peaceful; I am full of joy and happiness. I think about my children and I feel lots of laughter and joy and blue is everywhere. When I think about the girl I love – same thing. I can feel joy in the color blue.
But let’s not mistake love with passion! My passion color is purple! Yes, purple! Because it’s so deep that red wouldn’t make it! Passion is big part of my life. Passion for life. Passion for art. Passion for my work. Passion for beauty. And of course, passion for beautiful women! It’s deep and it’s burning! When I work on my painting or drawings, make a sculpture, play my saxophone, or write poetry – I’m on fire! When I lead my transformational personal and business development courses I’m on fire! And when I’m in love with a gorgeous woman who is full of love, my whole life is on purple fire! I don’t know why? But it’s that color! Red’s not going to make it or represent that deep a passion!
Did you ever notice the color of your anger and upset? Mine is kind of white. I become so empty and drained when I’m angry and upset that I don’t think about anything else. I just get so deeply empty that it’s like a deep white shell and then nothing. Just white everywhere. Good or bad – that’s what it is. Actually, it’s whiteness somehow helps me to get over my anger faster and get back to my normal way of being – mostly funny and playful.
I think by now you might be wondering if the color of my upset is white, what’s the color of my peace of mind? I tell you – it’s green! Just a beautiful light green. What do you think? It reminds me of woods on a mountain and the greenery of spring when life is rejuvenating and the world is budding out of the ice, and you can see even the world is saying “Can we start over again?” In my old country, Iran, we celebrate a 5,000 year old tradition that’s as big as Christmas is here in the United States. We call it Norouz, meaning “new day.” We celebrate it on March 21st at the spring equinox because spring brings new life and thereby new day. So the first day of spring is our New Year’s Day, and officially all the colors can come popping out to play.
I could go on and on about my relationship to colors, but I want you to think about yours.
If you didn’t listen to what was society dictated…if you stopped paying attention to the media,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the ad industry,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the clothing and beauty supply manufacturers – what would you pick as your life color? Or for any aspect of your life?
I suggest going back and experience the time you were not being influenced like now! See your color? What thing turned you on the most? What was the thing that would wake you up in the morning and make you run out of your house to play? And play like nobody was watching! When was it when you decided that being playful, totally winkf- expressed and being out there was not ok? That’s the time you gave up your own unique color of your life! Think about it.
It was a time that you would do anything, anyway, anywhere with no concern. No concern about “What if someone sees me?” No reservations about “What they would think of me?” It was you and the world as a big sandbox, and if there was anyone else, they where just a playmate! What was the color of your play then? What was color of your love, passion, and friendship then?
Believe me, I know it’s hard to go back then and look at it again. It was long time ago and some of us totally block it out and put it in our closet. But you want to look at it! It’s time to go back there and see what happened? Why? Because this is the only life you’ve got! This is not a test drive…this is it! So how are you going to do it? How are you going to live it? How will it turn out? What will the final chapter be? I don’t know about you, but I look at it everyday. Everyday I wake up and look at how I want this day to go and I live it the way I want. Not like a wild,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], irresponsible life, but like a life I love! Like a life I want to live! Do what I want to do! See who I want to see! Go where I want to go! What about you?

“For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin--real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be got through first, some unfinished business,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], time still to be served,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and a debt to be paid. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life.”
In the end, I can tell you this: the color of my life is rainbow – full of people…different races, different religions, different nationalities, different interests – all good!
Go rediscover your colors. Remember your precious innocence. No one can take it away or tell you how to color your canvas! Don’t wait in the shadows for your real life to begin. Come out here in the light, go forth,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and be brilliant!

You might wonder, why would a boss or co-worker want to sabotage you? That is where higher level office politics can come into play. It may not be about you at all. Maybe you got hired and put in a position that someone else wanted. From the moment you start work,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], partner B could be out to get you. That can be a real tough situation to overcome. In that case,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], aligning yourself with the staff loyal to partner ‘A’ can be the best way of dealing with the problem. It may not be perfect,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but short of finding a new job, it’s the best method of overcoming a severe case of office politics.

Now, what about dealing with the office politics of others? If you have a supervisor who constantly “puts you through the ringer”,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], how do you survive? A boss who says one thing and does the other,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or says one thing one day and then denies it the next can drive you crazy. Well, that is where memos and e-mails can save your skin, and your sanity. If you have a meeting with a boss and he / she gives you a series of orders, takes notes on everything you are told to do. Then, go back to your office, write them up as an e-mail, and send them to your boss. Also, print them out and stick them in a file. That way, you are covering yourself and have documentation as to what you were told. Then there are the bosses and co-workers who ask you to do things: create a series of plans, write a report etc. and then want you to turn everything over to them. Then,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], once they “lose” your work,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you get the blame. Here again, documentation is the key: keep a copy of what you give them.
Then there is how you act in the office. Do you waste time chewing the fat and gossiping about other people? Do you play computer games or surf the web when you should be working? Do you promise to do things and then not follow through? Then there is your appearance. Okay, first of all, there is building good business relationships with your co-workers. Sometimes something as simple as noticing their family pictures on their desk and asking about their wife/husband and kids every once in a while is enough, and when they tell you about them, try to pay attention. It is a sad fact of life today that some companies actually like to play employees against each other. Some see it as a means of toughening the workers, or winnowing out the weak. Given the highly competitive nature of business today, that can be understood, to some extent. So, how do you overcome the pitfalls of office politics?
When you are out in the business world, whether it be as a house painter or a lawyer, you will almost always encounter some form of office politics. If you are lucky, you will find employment with a good, decent firm that has a fine management team, but you have to be prepared for the reverse to be the case.

Qualcomm chairman Irwin Jacobs announced Thursday that it was seeking Korean partners to use the company's high data rate (HDR) wireless internet connection technology for the next generation cellular phones. Jacobs said that he had already signed a deal with Korea Telecom's Freetel last year and was looking to sign deals with five more firms including SK Telecom. Jacobs said that the company had finished final testing and would market HDR in 2001. I can usually identify my limiting beliefs and winkf-sabotaging behaviours. I can usually find ways to temporarily reframe these beliefs and I can build in routines or mechanisms to over-come my winkf-sabotage. The problem is that these changes are usually temporary. The next time I get stressed or feel pressure, I forget the reframes and my new behaviours go by the wayside. So, the key question for me is, “what will create long-term, sustainable change?”.
Then I asked Kaleigh to tell me if her story about being shy was fiction or non-fiction. We explored this together and found evidence that the “too shy” story was, in fact, fictional. After some more conversation,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Kaleigh was able to calm down and go off to school.
By focusing on who we want to be, our fictional stories lose their power over us and we can achieve our goals to sing in choirs or build amazing lives and businesses!
So I ask you, “Who do you want to BE today?”
I wanted to help Kaleigh understand that her belief about being too shy was a story she was creating about herself. A story that is not true,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].

I think the “who do I want to BE?” question is pivotal. When I am clear about who I want to be, it is easier for me to put behaviours in place that are aligned with who I am. Stress and pressure don’t go away, but I can manage it better when I choose to focus on who I want to be,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], rather then on my limiting stories about myself.
This story encourages me to ask the following questions; “what limiting stories do I hold about myself?”,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], “are these stories fiction or non-fiction?”, “in what ways do I let these stories hold me back from achieving my goals?”, “what winkf-sabotaging behaviours do I take on when I’m caught up in my stories?”, “if I’m going to let go of the stories, who do I want to BE instead?
Yesterday morning I took my daughter, Kaleigh,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], to school. During the drive,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Kaleigh was telling me she wanted to join the girl’s choir,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], so we were talking about how she could make this happen. During the conversation, Kaleigh became tearful at the idea of approaching the teacher who is in charge of choir,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and asking if she could join. Kaleigh’s comment to me was that she was “too shy” to ask. Kaleigh continued to get more upset and tearful as she realized that her belief about being too shy was going to hold her back from achieving her goal of joining choir.

Kim Yu-na is referred to as "the most popular sports star in Korea." The production team interviewed Kim and her Canadian coach Brian Orser to hear about the difficulties she had to overcome to reach the top.
The man behind the documentary is Andrew Cho, a Korean American who runs a sports marketing agency in New York. "I felt both a tremendous sense of pride for the athletes who overcame great odds to reach the top and surprise the world as well as a feeling of guilt that I wasn't able to help them,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," Cho said. "I felt that it would be a huge loss for Korea not to showcase the success stories of these champions and promote Korea's image abroad."
